For all the people who are calling Kony 2012 a scam, the information that was “revealed” was from a confused woman on TUMBLR. The very thing she calls offensive is offensive itself. She totally misunderstood what this guy’s intentions are, and for whatever stupid reason, she’s up in arms about it. By making this crisis personal to him, he’s showing us that it’s a situation we can all empathize with in some way. Him especially though, since his friend was so horrifically involved in it. And he does talk about the Ugandan military and government AND the US military and government. Especially towards the end. The only way to act on knowledge is by being aware, and that itself makes us emotional first, then logical. And the money? I’m sure, as with any charity, the money is being used for a variety of things, including the raising of awareness itself. So before you people start dismissing this campaign just to “outsmart” the general public or remove yourself from a huge mass of people just to be cool, think about what you’re saying and consider something other than yourself, just this once. By reaching out and helping this cause, we can become a part of something much, much larger. Every person counts, and maybe one day, we’ll get to a point where our voices and passion can rebuild Africa as a whole.
